Foundation presentation at the International Planetarium Society Congress in Japan
This year’s International Planetarium Society Congress is being held at the beautiful Fukuoka Science Museum and Planetarium in Japan, in conjunction with this year’s Fulldome Festival Fukuoka. The Foundation Herbert W. Franke has the great honor of giving a short presentation entitled Edutainment for the Dome: three different multimedia realizations of narrated Sci Fi stories in the Content Production and Technology session. The foundation is currently adapting three of Herbert’s stories for presentation in the Fulldome format, including A Leap into the Void visualized by the renowned Sergey Prokofyev. This work will also be submitted to the Japanese Fulldome Festival, which is taking place at the same venue as first part of IPS Congress. This marks the Foundation’s first presentation of Herbert’s artwork in the fulldome and immersive worlds. We will build on this during the Herbert W. Franke 100 event series in 2027.
Foundation chief Susanne Päch: “With this project, we are beginning to bring Franke’s work into the multimedia world of fulldome and immersive experiences. We will continue to expand on this foundation during the HWF 100 event series, which marks the 100th anniversary of Franke’s birth.” In 2027, the foundation plans to celebrate Franke’s birthday in large image formats.
