Serie Raumstudien (spatial studies – 1953/54 and 57/58)
Like the Lichtformen, these Raumstrudien was drawn in space by moving elastically deformed white lacquered wires – spatial structures created by moving two-dimensional lines. As in the Light Forms series, the wires were illuminated by projecting a grid of lines. The deformed and suspended wire was set in motion. The striped lighting created the chiaroscuro structures. The pmoving wire created a complete virtual spatial object when the aperture was opened. Both rotationally symmetrical and translationally constructed geometric structures were examined.
Already in the years 1953/54 Franke colorized some motifs with double exposure by color foils. Color Series
