Generative Art Summit – Conference

2024, July 3rd and 4th – 9:30 – 18:00 Uhr
Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Hanseatenweg
Conference about the history of generative Art 1954 – 2024

The first day of the conference – the “Hall of Fame” – is dedicated to the pioneers of the 20th century – from the generative photographers to the great computer artists of the 1960s to 1990s. Click here for the daily overview of the conference program.

Hein Gravenhorst – generative photography (1966)
Joan Truckenbrod computer art (1975)
William Latham – computer animation artist (1988)
Christa Sommerer/Laurant Mignonneau – computer installation (1994)

The second day of the conference is dedicated to new developments from crypto art to AI art. Since the 1950s, there has been controversy in the context of generative art about how the tension between man and machine should be assessed. Is it even possible to create art with a machine? This dispute is intensifying once again today with the use of neural networks, so-called Artificial Intelligence – and is of course also a topic at the conference.
