Japanese artist Yoichiro Kawaguchi is one of the greats of computer animation. As part of Film Night of the Generative Art Summit, he presented a 20-minute special “Intelligence of Life” in which he took us through the highlights of his artistic productions spanning 50 years. Kawaguchi himself programmed the evolution algorithms he used for his computer animations starting in the 1970s and thus significantly influenced their software development.
In July 2024, the art meets science – Foundation Herbert W. Franke invited around 60 guests of honor from all over the world to the Generative Art Summit at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. The video documentations of the event with around 350 participants are published on HYPERRAUM.TV.
On the second day, the Summit Conference focused on presentations by important generative artists of the 21st century. The program, entitled “From Algorithms to Artificial Intelligence”, led participants through the fantastic world of generative art – starting with a session on art and science as well as talks and lectures by well-known digital artists. Operators of crypto art platforms and collectors of this art form also had their say and exchanged views on the future prospects of generative art. In the afternoon, the focus was also on artificial intelligence and its use in art: from images to poetry and music.
