The art meets science – Foundation Herbert W. Franke is proud to announce a landmark event in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) to mark the 100th birthday of the visionary scientist, artist, and author Herbert W. Franke. Entitled Creators, Thinkers, and Spaces: Herbert W. Franke Centenary Summit, the event is building upon the outstanding success of the Foundation’s first Generative Art Summit held at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin 2024.
This two-day event convenes leading international thinkers, artists, and technologists. Embracing Franke’s lifelong ethos of bridging exact mathematics and aesthetic expression, the Summit fosters a dynamic, cross-generational dialogue on the evolving intersection of art, science, and future technologie since the 1950s. Exploring the intersections of generative systems, spatial design, and cybernetic aesthetics championed by Franke.
The Summit will also feature special artistic performances created to honor the centennial. It will showcase literary and visual works by Herbert W. Franke, brought into the modern era of immersive art in close collaboration with members of the generative art community like the ASTROPOETICON and the project HWF Goes AI. Grounded in Franke’s original ideas and concepts, these performances finally realize artistic visions that he conceptualized decades ago but lacked the technological means to execute during his lifetime.
