Distribution of Experimental Films from 1958 and 1974
The foundation has signed a distribution agreement with the Paris-based organization Light Cone. Three experimental films by Herbert W. Franke are now available on this platform.
Film 1 Tanz der Elektronen from 1958 shows images produced with Herbert W. Franke’s analog computer. More informations about the series here.

Film 2 Projektionen from 1974 is one of the first purely artistic 16mm films to be made on a 3D real-time system. The system was developed for the interactive design of circuits and also allowed the real-time movement of 3D-objects. Sevral scenes where used for a stage design in 1974 for a ballet performance in the state opera of Bavaria. More informations about the series here.
Film 3 Rotationen shows similar sequences to Projektionen, produced with the same system. But this film was set to music – with the sound of a machine called a “Robot” by Peter Scheffler, which processed high-energy space radiation and converted it into electronic sounds. More informations about the series here.

Light Cone is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the history of experimental film from France and around the world for the future. It restores historical works and publishes them at events and on a website. In addition, Light Cone offers a commercial loan service for museums and other interested organizers. The collection also contains numerous pioneers of generative film art, such as films by Larry Cuba or Pierre Rovère.
